1996 Land Rover Discovery Camel

About this car

1996 Land Rover Discovery Camel Trophy Support Vehicle – RHD. 141k miles. We’re extremely excited to be offering a vehicle we would dream about as kids. This vehicle was built on the same production line as the 1997 Camel Trophy Mongolian vehicles. It was finished on 30th July 1996 and registered on 24th December 1996. When it left the production line, it was painted in the famous Sandglow that adorns all CT trucks. It was fitted to Camel event spec, which includes full roll-cage, roofrack, pacer clock among others. Instead of competing, it was used as a pre-scout/support vehicle for the 1998 Tierra Del Fuego event. Four pre-scout vehicles were used: a pre-production Freelander finished in Zambezi Silver, a Defender also finished in Zembezi Silver, another Discovery finished in Westminster Blue and this one, finished in Rioja Red. Land Rover repainted these four vehicles to show-case different colors to WBI, who were the owners of Camel cigarettes. In the end, none of the colors were approved thus these vehicles were used for pre-scout and support purposes only.
